Protect Your Eyes

WHAT YOU NEED:

All types of goggles/eye protection: safety, motorcycle, water, ski, etc.

2 pair of sun glasses. 1 pair that we'll call "Son glasses". Decorate ahead of time. Write or use stick on letters to spell Jesus or Son glasses. Add stars, crowns, etc. Anything to make them extra special. Have an extra pair for your child to decorate their own pair of Son glasses at the end of the lesson.

(put on a plain pair of safety goggles)

What are these used for? (allow time for answers)

Safety goggles protect our eyes from anything getting in them.

Workers wear these to keep objects from getting in their eyes while they are working.

(put on motorcycle goggles)

What are these for?

Motorcycle riders wear these to keep bugs from flying in their eyes while they are riding.

(put on water goggles)

What are these for?

Water goggles keep water from getting in your eyes.

There are all types of goggles to protect our eyes from the wrong things getting in.

Even sunglasses protect our eyes (put on regular sunglasses).

But there’s one special pair that we need to wear all the time! 

Our "Son" glasses! (put the Son glasses on) Jesus wants us to protect our eyes so we can protect our minds and our hearts!

What would happen if you watched a television show where the kids were disrespectful to their parents?

It would give you the idea that it was okay to talk to YOUR parents that way.

What would happen if you watched a scary movie? Thoughts of fear would come in. 

What we look at with our eyes, will affect our thoughts!

I will set nothing wicked before my eyes.

Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, and revive me in Your way.

Psalm 119:37 (NKJV)

We wouldn’t leave the door to our house open all the time. Who knows what might come in!

So, we also need to protect our eyes from letting the wrong things in!

(Let your child decorate their own pair of Son glasses as a reminder to guard what they look at.)
